Suzie's Design Process

1) First I start out with the small thumbnail sketches for general ideas/necklace shapes.
2) Then I bead a small swatch of the necklace, so I can get the right bead colors and textures.
3) I sketch out the necklace in its real size, either by actually drawing it, or by photocopying the swatch I made and arranging it in the shape of the finished necklace.
4) I specify beads used in the swatch and on the sketch, so the person producing it will be able to source them all and understand which beads should be placed where. I also include written instructions and notes on the sketches for any points which may not be clear.
5) I send a design packet with a few sketches to my supplier in India, where she sources all the materials and produces first samples.
